Happiness is about choices. Choosing who you marry. Who you hang out with. How many brownies you eat. Even choosing what makes you miserable, and what takes the misery away.
I have questioned “Free Will” in the past. I have even prayed the prayer, “God take it away, just get me to do what I am supposed to do!” – But He is too good for that. Too kind to be controlling. Too powerful to micromanage me.
It really is a gift. God who can force me to love Him, allows me to choose Him. It’s exactly what He did.* For there is no greater joy than in choosing; where you live, what you do, how you smile and what you die for.
You even get to choose how to react to the things that are out of your control. You always have that ONE choice. The only thing that can imprison you, is the lie that you don’t.
So I choose my choices. No one else’s. I choose my wife, my sons and my adoption. I choose my voice and my God.
And to these choices of love, I will be a happy slave and a captive of joy.
What are you choosing today?
Highly recommend this book: Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead – But of course, it’s your choice.
