a2460848240_10They are very talented musicians but they are not trying to impress you with their musical talent. They are extremely good song-writers but they prefer to hear you singing their songs. And that’s the heart (at least as I see it) of United Pursuit.

“They are a group of friends living in Knoxville, TN, united by a shared passion for worshipping Jesus and inviting others to sing along. Born in an old battered house and now found gathered in a renovated warehouse every week, the movement the group has launched in Knoxville has taken wings in ways they never could have expected.”

Simple Gospel is a bit louder. Slightly more produced than their past material. But it feels like the right amount that needed to be added. I think it is their best work. And I know that half of the songs will end up on Sunday morning worship lineups everywhere.

I spent almost 2 hours last night singing track 9, Never Going Back. I cried. I shouted. I found Jesus in it, again and again and again.

And that is why I love United Pursuit. I won’t listen to it just to listen to music. I listen to it to find something deeper. I listen to them so I don’t have to listen to them anymore.

The songs are raw, simple (duh) and honest. The vocals are real and consistent. The overall sound is inviting and convincing. Simple Gospel is a masterpiece of true worship.

The heart of this album is pumping something special, if you join its rhythm, I know you will find Jesus in it. Again and again and again.
